A relatively sturdy-looking goby with a cylindrical body.
This species is adapted to fast-flowing, subtropical streams and will stay
close to the substrate in most aquaria. It swims poorly.
Females are less brightly coloured than males.
A peaceful, bottom-dwelling fish that will do well only in
a subtropical aquarium alongside species from a similar biotope. White cloud
mountain minnows, hillstream loaches, and Rhinogobius duospilus would make
ideal companions. Feeds primarily on small invertebrates such as bloodworms.
